11/20/2008 12/20/2008 Pompano Beach FL POMPANO BEACH, Fla. -- George C. Boyne died on Monday, Nov. 10, 2008. He was 77. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and lived there for 27 years, prior to being sponsored over to the United States by Rod Keller Sr. in 1958. He started as a waiter at Rod's Ranchhouse in Convent Station, and later became the restaurant manager. In 1981 when the Madison Hotel was opened, he became the catering director, and retired from the hotel in 1996. He was a parishioner at Christ the King Church in New Vernon, and was also an avid Mets fan. Survivors include his wife, Ellie, of 52 years; his daughter, Linda; his grandson, Nicholas; his sister, Frances; and many family members both in the States as well as Ireland. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Church in New Vernon. Final resting place will be in Ireland. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice...
